Millennium Exodia Decks are among the most simple decks to learn to play. Its end board objective is generally always the same, and its path to get there is generally short regardless of the starter that is used.
Shared Archetypal Mechanics: The Backrow Summon
Every Main Deck Millennium monster shares a specific two-part mechanic. They act as engine pieces and recursive monsters.
Placement and Cost
The first effect triggers from the hand. You reveal the card and pay 2000 Life Points to place it in the Spell and Trap Zone as a Continuous Spell. This placement usually triggers a search for another archetype card. The Life Point cost lowers your total. This reduction directly interacts with the boss monster’s ability to gain ATK during damage calculation.
Inherent Special Summoning
The second effect triggers while the card is a Continuous Spell. You can Special Summon the monster directly from the backrow. This action does not start a chain. It provides easy access to high-level bodies for Link or Xyz plays. It also leaves the Normal Summon available for other utility monsters.
